Video: How “Sex” Bubbly Got its Name from Larry Mawby

Northern Michigan’s King of Bubbly, Larry Mawby, is well-known for creating sparkling wine in Leelanau County. At L. Mawby Vineyards in Suttons Bay, visitors sip samples of bottle-fermented and tank-fermented sparkling wines. And when tasting room staff members ask, “Have you tried sex yet?” a moment of confusion is followed by a flow of laughter when a bottle of dry rosé labeled with the name “Sex” is presented.

Watch this MyNorth Media video to hear from the nationally-recognized vintner of sparkling wines on how his brut rosé bubbly entitled “Sex” originally got its name.
