Wednesdays, Jun. 29th – Jul. 27th • 4:30 PM
Return home to your true self in connection with all of life through the elements, and learn from these raw forces of resilience that live within each cell of our being. You will be guided through trauma-informed simple nourishing movement practices that are intended to support you to deepen your mindfulness in relationship to your body and the environment. You will learn about the systems of the body as they relate to the larger natural systems of our planet Earth and easy techniques to come back to your inner knowing.
We will be meeting inside and weather permitting will go outside and connect with the natural environment. We will also connect with others through sharing together in a circle. No previous experience needed. Bring a towel or mat that can get dirty.
Here’s what you will receive and learn during the 5 weeks:
Build up your natural immune system through tapping into your embodied resource and inner medicine

WHAT IS CRYPTOCURRENCY?
Online Presentation by Suzanne Perry
Wednesday, May 25th • 7:00 PM
What to expect for the future of money exchange, and crypto as an investment ~~
For over 300 years the United States has employed the current core systems for currency and money exchange. Cryptocurrency is changing the game for investors, businesses, and governments around the world – and citizens are about to feel the seismic shift as nations frantically prepare for the coming of a worldwide currency system. Cryptocurrency is simply a “digital asset,” highly encrypted using blockchain processing and recordkeeping (referred to as mining). It is decentralized in nature, meaning it is not controlled by a central financial or government authority. While Bitcoin accounts for about half of tracked cryptocurrency, there are over 18,000 coins and tokens in circulation (as of March 2022) vying for validity and financial strength. Suzanne Perry will present a basic overview of cryptocurrency as an investment and as a growing means of money exchange, along with the cultural transformation set in motion with its arrival.

PETOSKEY REMEMBERED WALKING TOUR
Walking Tour with Christopher Struble ~ Thursday, May 19th • 2:00 PM
By 1900, there were approximately 6,000 full time residents and 125,000 summer visitors in Petoskey. The New Arlington Hotel was larger and grander than Mackinac Island’s Grand Hotel and the rail stations handled over 100 trains and over 5000 passengers per day in the peak season.
This tour explains why and how the city grew while visiting historic sites from that time period. It lasts approximately 90 minutes and focuses on the city center (Pennsylvania Park, Lake Street, Mitchell Street, and Howard Street). Register here.

Event Details
The geography and geology of the Sleeping Bear Dunes will be the focus of writer Rosalie Sanara Petrouske’s work during her May 15 – 28 artist residency with the Glen Arbor Arts Center. Petrouske, a resident of Grand Ledge, Michigan, will spend two weeks working on a series of haiku poems inspired by the area’s lakes and the dunes.
Each of the GAAC’s artist-residents offer a conversational presentation at the end of their stay. The presentations begin at noon at the GAAC. They are free, and open to the public. On May 27 Petrouske will discuss poems written in both traditional and modern haiku forms – an ancient, Japanese poetic form concerned with the natural world — and the poems she is editing for a volume of poems.
Since the 1990s, the GAAC has welcomed visiting artists who want to immerse themselves in their work. The GAAC’s AIR program offers up to seven, creative practitioners a two-week respite from their daily lives in order to focus on a new idea that needs space, or to develop an on-going project. For more information go to GlenArborArt.org/EVENTS. The GAAC is located at 6031 S. Lake St., Glen Arbor.

This hands-on workshop will put any skill level on a direct path to becoming a photography “genius” of lectures, field trips, and the wonders of the digital darkroom. MOSS & LICHEN TOUR
Walking Tour with Brad Von Blon ~ Oden Island Nature Preserve
Thursday, June 2nd • 4:00 PM
Brad will discuss the moss and lichens during a hike of this beautiful property. A successful fundraising effort in 2000 resulted in the Conservancy’s purchase of this large, undeveloped waterfront property. The acquisition closed the door on a controversial 34-unit subdivision proposed for the site. Now the preserve helps maintain the water quality of Crooked Lake, which lies near the upper portion of the Inland Waterway, a 40-mile navigable waterway that boaters can take into Lake Huron at Cheboygan. Event Details
We are a club composed of people interested in all aspects of the world of fungi. Some are attracted to the foraging of wild mushrooms, their identification and harvest. Some want to further their interest in the medicinal aspects of wild mushrooms. Many people may simply enjoy the photography of fungi. Of course almost everyone is interested in the culinary aspects of mushrooms, either bought, grown or foraged. It is possible to grow edible mushrooms in the home with very modest investment in time and materials.
The club meets at 6 PM the second Wednesday of the month (excluding December). The structure of the club is very informal, although it is hoped that guest lectures will occur from time to time. Other than a general interest in the world of fungi there are no formal requirements to join. Members are encouraged to bring along mushrooms they have found so that the group may observe and possibly identify various fresh specimens. Many of the members have a Wild Mushroom Certification from the Michigan Department of Agriculture for the identification of edible mushrooms.
Next meeting is Wed., May 11th • 6 pm in Room 536 at the SCRC Student Community Center, near the gym at North Central Michigan College*. Further information can be obtained by contacting Michael Banyai at mikebanyai@gmail.com or call 231-330-0910
Note: At this time, masks are optional inside NCMC buildings.
