A panel of experts with 10Best editors picked the initial nominees for the competition, and the top 10 winners were determined by popular vote. Standing out among accommodations in notable wine regions such as California and Oregon, “the nomination in itself was an extreme honor, and one that shines a spotlight on a tremendous team we are so fortunate to have at our Inn,” says Managing Owner Sherri Campbell Fenton. “It’s very exciting to see our unique experiences and incredible wines making such a tremendous, lasting impact on so many.”
The family-owned, 10-room Inn is located on 160 acres among the rolling hills of rural Leelanau County, in Northwest Michigan’s notable wine region. Prominently viewed while driving along scenic M-22 that follows West Grand Traverse Bay, the Kentucky-inspired estate is nestled below a hillside of vineyards with sweeping pastoral views of its large equestrian facility. A picturesque area with rolling farmland, sandy beaches, parks and quaint villages surround the Inn, allowing guests to put city life behind them.
Guests enjoy VIP access to the winery tasting room, located out the back door of the Inn, a nightly hospitality hour, wine in their room, gourmet breakfasts, seasonal cafe, on-site trails and good-old-fashioned Midwestern hospitality.
The Winery at Black Star Farms is known for esteemed awards such as Best in Show for its 2017 Arcturos Dry Riesling at the 2018 Canberra International Riesling Challenge.
