Boyne Mountain turned 70 this January. In honor of the Northern Michigan resort, we’re sharing a few throwback photos—and wishing we could go back in time to these awesome moments.

In honor of its 70th anniversary, Boyne Mountain hosted the 70-Hour Challenge, spinning lifts for 70 consecutive hours and helping to raise $34,500 for Challenge Mountain. The event had more than 200 participants who raised funds and 72 skiers and snowboarders who took to the slopes day and night tracking a whopping 7,257 runs. The monies generated were from individual and team pledges, registration fees, and four-day ticket sales donated by Boyne Mountain.
“I am proud of the collaborative efforts of the Challenge Mountain and Boyne Mountain teams, as well as all those that pledged support for this great Northern Michigan organization,” says Ed Grice, president and general manager of Boyne Mountain Resort. “It was a historic event fitting of our 70th anniversary.”
Robert Parker finished the Challenge with 603 runs, the most runs of any adult, and Caleb Dubey tracked the most runs in the youth division with 501. Dan Decker, John Jackubiak, and Lake Street Vets contributed the highest donations at $3,600, $1,214 and $4,749, respectively.
Challenge Mountain is close to the heart of the Kircher family, owners of Boyne Mountain Resort. Founder Everett Kircher donated Challenge Mountain’s land in 1984.
