(Traverse City, MI) – Grand Traverse Pie Company (GTPC) will celebrate the delicious comforts of PIE during National Pie Day on Friday, January 23, 2015. National Pie Day was created by the American Pie Council. As part of our American heritage, this day is a perfect opportunity to pass on the comforts of pie and celebrate one of America’s favorite foods – Pie!

Each Grand Traverse Pie Company location will be serving up a FREE SLICE of Michigan Cherry or Apple Crumb pie with any purchase all day on National Pie Day.

“We are PIE people and we’re proud to once again serve the delicious comforts of our most popular pies for National Pie Day in each of our community Pie Shops. Pie is meant for sharing. Pie connects people. Pie makes people happy. And happy people make the world a better place. That’s why the world needs more pie!” stated Mike Busley, founder of Grand Traverse Pie Company (GTPC).

This National Pie Day Grand Traverse Pie Company is also proud to announce a new Gluten Free Pie. Added to the Gluten Free Pie line is a rich Chocolate Cream Pie in a shortbread pie crust-this is topped with a chocolate whipped cream, sprinkled with chocolate shavings. The new Chocolate Cream Pie is added to the lineup of 6” Gluten Free Cherry or Apple Crumb Pies that are finished with a topping of sliced almonds. All are handmade, fresh every day with a shortbread pie crust.

The Grand Traverse Pie Company offers 30 varieties of hand-crafted pie. In fact, every GT Pie Company location has on site bakers, delivering the made-from-scratch, just baked taste of pie each and every day. All are made with Michigan ingredients – all wrapped in its “melt-in-your-mouth crust.”

In fact the pie has received many accolades, including Michigan’s favorite celebrity chef, Mario Batali. “I don’t think I’ve ever had as good a pie as Grand Traverse Pie Company’s Cherry Crumb Pie…It’s a religious experience.” To share your experience with pie, Grand Traverse Pie Company encourages people to take pictures of their National Pie Day pie eating fun and post at #lovepeacepie.

The GTPC makes over 95% of its purchases from Michigan companies and promotes two of the State’s key ingredients- agriculture and commerce. Michigan fruit (apples, blueberries and cherries) sugar and flour all come from our State’s growers and processors, and GT Pie will drive nearly $20 million into Michigan’s economy this year.
