Strawberry-Sangria-4

Strawberry Sangria

For a berry-kissed twist on traditional sangria pair Northern Michigan strawberries with a Northern Michigan roseĢ. How do you say bliss in Spanish? Hereā€™s a simple recipe you can start in the morning and have ready to serve (with a flourish) at the end of a hot afternoon.

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle of roseĢ
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 1 Ā cup sliced fresh strawberries
  • 2 Ā cups ginger ale (Vernors if you can get it!)

Directions

In a large pitcher mix the wine, sugar, lemon and strawberries. Refrigerate for several hours, up to a day. Add ginger ale just before serving over ice. Tip:Ā The sangria season has only just begun! Later in the fruit season, use the above recipe, but try substituting with a local white (unoaked chardonnay or pinot gris) or a local red (young, acidic fruit forward varieties), and instead of strawberries, add blueberries, raspberries, peaches, pears or apples.
