The calendar may say it’s spring, but the colder temperatures and snow still linger. Warm up on a damp day with a glass of “Boris” mulled wine. The easy Northern Michigan recipe comes from Brys Estate in Traverse City and features a sweet blush.

“Boris” Mulled Wine Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle Wally’s Wineyard Boris
  • 2 cups apple cider
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup mulling spices

Directions

Put wine, cider, orange juice and sugar in a pot or crock pot. Place spices in a stainless steel tea ball infuser or a cheesecloth bag. Alternatively, place the loose spices directly in the pot and strain through a fine-mesh sieve before serving. Simmer slowly, do not boil, for at least an hour—the longer the better. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and/or a slice of fresh orange.
