About the Organization
The purpose of TraverseCONNECT is to drive northern Michigan regional growth and broad-based prosperity by connecting and leveraging multiple enterprises.
TraverseCONNECT is the parent organization of the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce, Venture North, 5toOne, and TCDI Inc. (see descriptions for each below). While each affiliated organization has its own mission, governing board and focus, the CEO operates in/oversees all areas. TraverseCONNECTÂ is a 501(c)4 non-profit regional economic development organization founded in 2015.
The CEO is a visionary, dynamic leader with the opportunity to shape future development of the Traverse City region. The CEO will convene and marshal resources, as well as articulate and support a path to execution. The CEO acts to bring its own and other organizations together with people and entities, including non-profits, government, business and thought leaders in the community to create and nurture a highly collaborative ecosystem to advance the economic interests of our region.
- Strategy and Planning â Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement strategy for the organization.
- Facilitate Economic Development- Convene groups and thought leaders, create alliances and partnerships to create measurable economic growth.
- Resource Development â Secure funding to support revenue and attraction activities.
- Leadership â Serve as a credible voice in the community, develop and mentor the Executive Leadership Team.
- Advocacy – Support business, non-profit and legislative issues in the community and statewide.
- Board Engagement – Work successfully with the Board of Directors.
- Prior experience leading a complex organization.
- Community leadership.
- Proven ability to grow financial revenue and funding sources.
- Financial and business acumen.
- Undergraduate degree is required. Advanced degree and/or relevant experience is preferred.
Compensation for this role will be competitive and commensurate with experience. TraverseCONNECT offers benefits that include a generous 401K, group health plan, life insurance, and paid time off.

Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce is an active network of Traverse City area businesses who come together to learn, grow and help the region prosper.Â Members find new customers through Chamber events and marketing opportunities.Â They learn new business strategies from other members and invited experts.Â Chamber programs help develop leadership skills and cultivate rising star employees.Â By working with the Chamberâs government relations team of staff and outside professionals, members have a voice in guiding decisions made in the region, Lansing and Washington.
Venture North Funding & Development is the business financing and support division of TraverseCONNECT, a regional Economic Development Organization that includes the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce. A certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), Venture Northâs mission is to support the region’s economic growth and community development efforts across its 10-county service area by providing almost 90 business loans totaling more than $5.2 million in capital, offering technical assistance, and building connections for viable businesses, including low-to-moderate income communities. Great Start CollaborativeÂ Traverse Bay/5toONEÂ works on early childhood development programming and advocacy in the 5-county area (Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Leelanau, Benzie and Antrim?).Â This is done by ensuring that a strong system of resources is available to all families and theÂ most vulnerable children receive the supports they need to succeed.
TCDI Inc. is TraverseCONNECTâs for-profit arm, which serves as a placeholder for for-profit development activities, typically in the form of uniquely structured LLCs, that directly address bottlenecks in the regionâs economy such as housing, manufacturing & warehousing, storage, agriculture and more.
