About Systems Analyst – Ambulatory Applications


A Systems Analyst works under general supervision having an overall broad depth of hospital and information systems technology. A person in this position can conduct a business requirement reviews, includes business and user needs, documents requirements, formulates business requirements, generates systems scope and objectives for moderately complex information systems, may make suggestions for workflow and process improvements, may modify, test and implement 3rd party software or create simple programmatic/scripted solutions, may lead small to mid-size teams on small to mid-size projects (40-80hrs) involving less-complex systems with low integration. Fully documents requirements, testing, code/script, processes and workflow. A Systems Analyst in this position is expected to guide and advise Associate Systems Analysts.

  • This Systems Analyst will work in support of Cardiology’s IT needs and solutions, including but not limited to Logi-D and Merge. Knowledge of Cardiology workflow and/or these applications is preferred.

  • This Systems Analyst will also learn and provide secondary support to additional applications used by Cardiology (Muse, Syngo) and serve as backup support for primary support analysts.

  • Experience working with Cerner EMR or another EMR system is highly desirable.



Must have one of the following (required):

· Associate’s degree (preferably IS/Business or healthcare emphasis) with 2 years’ relevant experience (IS/Business or healthcare)

· Bachelor’s degree (preferably IS/Business or healthcare emphasis)

· 4 years in healthcare or IS/Business experience

Experience in Information Systems (IS) beneficial

Experience in healthcare beneficial

Technical Knowledge (required):

· Working knowledge of MS Desktop products

· Knowledge of Client/Server applications

· General understanding of:

Common programming languages (like C++ and Java)

IT Selection and Implementation Methodology

Software development best practices

Required technical documentation including flowcharts

Interpreting vendor technical requirements

Relational database concepts

Operating Systems (such as AIX, Windows, MAC and Linux)

Types of hardware, storage and computing capacity of computers

Back up processes and disaster recovery

Common technical terminology

Computer security procedures and protocols

Network topologies

Report writing tools


Under the general supervision of a Manager, but may receive advice and assistance from other

leaders/managers of Information Systems.
