About Resource Nurse Educator – Home Care


Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and licensed in good standing with the State of Michigan required.

Master’s in Nursing preferred.

5 years experience in nursing with 2 years in acute care and 2 years in home health or hospice required.

Demonstrated knowledge of nursing theories, research and current trends.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Computer literate to include: the ability to prepare and present multimedia presentations.

Proven self-directed professional who is able to identify educational needs, develop programs, evaluate results, and provide information throughout the service area to all home health staff with minimal supervision.

Demonstrated knowledge of Conditions of Participation and CHAP standards.

Possesses current Michigan motor vehicle license, ability to drive a car, and insured vehicle capable of transport to various locations within the MHH service area.

Meets Home Health and Medicare standards as evidenced by criminal background check and fingerprinting.

Meets MHH established requirements for proof of health status. Physically able to lift 35 pounds. Demonstrates ability utilize good body mechanics or lifting techniques to avoid manipulating more than 35 pounds.

  5. Develop and provide multimedia presentations to staff and management in all divisions and service areas as needed.

  6. Develops, implements, and evaluates an agency-wide education plan related to findings from quality measurement and analysis, annual discussions, needs assessments, and performance evaluations.

  7. Coordinates updates to written education plans for general orientation to home health.

  8. Collaborates with management and staff to evaluate their educational and clinical need through competency assessments.

  9. Coordinates annual educational programs, inservices, and competency testing as required by regulations, standards, and policies.

  10. Coordinates updates to patient teaching materials.

  11. Participates in committees, task forces, process improvement teams, meetings, and activities

     to assist in the development of staff and the promotion of performance improvement. 
  12. Remains current in nursing techniques, standards, and procedures and maintains knowledge of research and trends in home health nursing.

  13. Employees with e-mail are required to maintain proficiency in the basic functions of the program and are also required to regularly check email and keep calendars up to date.

  14. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
