About Provider Recruitment & Onboarding Specialist


The Onboarding Specialist will serve as the central point of contact for incoming providers to the MHC system. This position is responsible for directing providers through the recruitment, credentialing, enrollment, and onboarding processes. The Specialist will work collaboratively with the Onboarding team on all activities & projects.


  • Bachelor’s degree required. Bachelor’s in health related field preferred or other designation with relevant experience.

  • Two years’ experience in medical staff/physician services, hospital credentialing, payer enrollment, physician recruitment, or related field preferred.

  • Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with various levels of hospital/practice management staff.

  • Ability to communicate and process highly confidential information and exercise proper judgment and discretion in performing duties.

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment within scope of knowledge and responsibility.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.


  • This position reports to the Manager of System Credentialing & Onboarding.

  • Close working relationship with MHC Physician Relations, Ambulatory Operations/Physician Networks, and local facility CEO/CMO.


No clinical contact with patients.

  5. Ensures transparency and integrity in the handling of information sensitive to the hospital, department, and members of the Medical Staff.

  6. Works closely with Graduate Medical Education, Human Resources, and internal departments for placement of Advanced Practice Providers, including PAs and NPs.

  7. Leads and oversees the overall onboarding processes for employed and affiliated providers of Munson Healthcare. Working with various departments (Practice Operations Leaders, IS, HR, Credentialing, Payer Enrollment) to monitor the onboarding processes to ensure deadlines are met, providers are added to the appropriate departments/functions, and onboarding tasks are complete prior to provider start date.

  8. Works in conjunction with system credentialing and local medical staff office to ensure accurate and timely health care provider information. Responsible for developing and implementing processes for start-up with ambulatory operations.

  9. Uses project management skills to develop and implement onboarding functionalities, coordinating with recruitment, credentialing and local medical staff offices to ensure providers are on boarded and integrated.

  10. Responsible for communication to Physician Services and Corporate Communications regarding pertinent provider information.

  11. Seeks best practices and standards while leading multi-departmental groups to complete physician integration, and/or dissolution.

  12. Maintains formal and informal communication with all departments/key stakeholders involved in the providers’ onboarding experience. Assists with development and communication of onboarding responsibilities and timelines related to provider/practice onboarding transition tasks.

  13. Supports healthcare team by supporting all physician services functions including recruitment, credentialing, payer enrollment, onboarding, data integrity, physician liaison, and provider relations/education.

  14. Accepts direction as necessary from the System Chief Medical Officer and VP of MHC Physician Network.

  15. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
