The Product Quality Manager is responsible for product certifications. This position audits internal and external suppliers, and verifies that finished goods comply with specifications and market requirements. The Product Quality Manager is directly responsible for all documented quality issues involving finished goods, and directed corrective action initiatives. Position acts as Sourcing Liaison to all operational areas of company to ensure product quality requirements are met.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Promotes the company culture, the mission and vision, and the core values of the company.
Promotes safety awareness, accident prevention, and employee involvement with regard to a safe work environment. Ensures employees have an understanding of the safety expectations of the organization.
Audits external vendors for quality assurance. Maintains vendor certifications. Understands market requirements and vendor capabilities. Works cooperatively with Procurement to develop product sourcing strategy.
Audits internal EJ manufacturing units. Confirms systems exist to ensure product quality. Checks compliance to dimensional, material, and fit requirements.
Determines acceptable product quality at manufacturing locations, especially when cosmetic concerns exist.
Facilitates product testing, including load testing of construction castings, cycle testing, flow testing, pressure testing, tests conducted by independent third parties, and other requirements initiated by customers, Sales or departmental necessity.
Develops operating metrics to communicate product quality performance. Examples of KPI include summaries of service request entries, tooling measures, scrap, customer complaints, backcharges, and audit results.
Directs the timely resolution of quality issues documented in the EJ service request system. Identifies root cause of quality issues. Develops and directs corrective action, engaging internal and external stakeholders as needed. Acts as liaison on behalf of Sourcing to all areas of company.
Manages all customer backcharges. Documents requests, investigative causes, formulates action plans, and disburses payments. Involves EJ Leadership team as appropriate and serves as primary process contact.
Develops understanding of product lines marketed by EJ, including resale. Acts in cooperation with Product Development and Product Engineering to ensure finished goods meet all applicable federal, state and local product requirements. Position requires expertise in domestic content requirements.
Actively manages SDS information in cooperation with Safety, Sales and all internal manufacturing units.
Supports timely review and disposition of products designated for pre-production sample review. Drives improvement in process, and fewer sample requirements.
Manages 2-4 subordinates in the Sourcing Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Assisted in these duties by the Human Resources department.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university; and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
