High School Diploma (or GED equivalent).
Pharmacy Technician License issued by the State of Michigan or a temporary license by starting date and full licensure within 180 days of hire date.

One year of experience in retail/ambulatory pharmacy preferred.

Knowledge of long-term care facilities and Pharmacy LTC services is desirable.

Basic knowledge of medications, medical nomenclature and ability to read physicians’ orders.

Typing 30 wpm minimum.

Must have legible handwriting and/or printing.

Numerical comprehension and mathematical skills.

Ability to communicate verbally, comprehend verbal instructions, and have good telephone etiquette.

Good vision, manual dexterity, and physical ability to withstand the majority of shift on feet, moving around.

Experience with on-line computer systems, especially for retail pharmacy is desirable.

General clerical skills.

Failure to obtain full license within 180 days will result in termination of employment.

ORGANIZATION: Under general supervision of the Ambulatory Pharmacy Coordinator. Daily activities are set forth but not limited by a responsibility list and monitored by general and direct supervision from the staff pharmacist on duty. All medications prepared or obtained for dispensing must be prepared under the supervision of and checked by a registered pharmacist. Has daily working contact with many other health care personnel from various practices. SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  1. Supports the Mission, Vision and Values of Munson Healthcare.

  3. Promotes personal and patient safety.

  4. Uses effective customer service/interpersonal skills at all times.

  5. Answers phone calls with skill, takes messages, and refers phone calls when appropriate.

  6. Maintains files and records in good order.

  7. Performs general housekeeping continually to maintain a neat, clean, professional-appearing environment.

  8. Retrieves and processes Interactive Voice Response (IVR) and WebRx refill request promptly and efficiently.

  9. Enters prescriptions into computer system for dispensing, refill requests, and performs data entry and data retrieval.

  10. Performs secretarial duties as requested.

  11. Performs counter/cash register and POS system duties.

  12. Performs inventory control, stocking, checking in and storage, which includes ordering, and fiscal inventory of medications in all areas of the Ambulatory Pharmacy Department.

  13. Rotates inventory, checks for and removes outdated or damaged merchandise and returns to vendor.

  14. Participates in annual inventories.

  15. Enters prescriptions in the computer system for dispensing, requests refills, perform data entry/retrieval, etc.

  16. Prepares pharmaceutical products for final check and dispensing by pharmacist.

  17. Follows proper hand hygiene and abide with hand hygiene policies at all times, including cleaning hands between each patient room.

  18. Performs third party billing, manual reconciliation of payments, and rebilling as necessary. Generates bills and records receipts of payment for merchandise sold.

  19. Attends required continuing education programs and MMC mandated inservice/education.

  20. Greet customers and perform intake function for prescription/service requests.

  21. Process sales for durable medical equipment and related supplies,.

  22. Performs all other duties as assigned.
