About Pharmacy System Analyst -Infusion

SUMMARY:

The Infusion Pharmacy System Analyst works under the general supervision of the Infusion Pharmacy Coordinator and is an integral member of the Cowell Family Cancer Center (CFCC) team. The person in this position is responsible for developing and maintaining the functionality of all software used in the Infusion Pharmacy. The system analyst is involved in treatment plan development, third party software management (testing, implementation and maintenance), and works collaboratively on billing matters with CFCC insurance verification team and inpatient pharmacy informatics. The system analyst is responsible for training pharmacy employees on systems, optimizing workflow and software troubleshooting.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Business or Healthcare emphasis Experience in health informatics/information systems preferred Experience in pharmacy preferred Experience with Varian Medical Oncology, Unlimited Systems – Looking Glass, or MedKeeper highly preferred

Full Pharmacy Technician License issued by the State of Michigan preferred at hire (if not previously licensed, will be required within 1 year of employment)

Excellent verbal and written communication skills to provide consultative support to end users and write procedures/policies when needed for pharmacy users

ORGANIZATION:

Reports to Infusion Pharmacy Coordinator. May receive instructions from Pharmacy Director, Pharmacy Managers, or Clinical Oncology Pharmacists as necessary.

  7. Possesses knowledge of Operating Systems (MacOS, Windows, Windows Server Environments)
  8. Understands common technical terminology
  9. Demonstrates knowledge of healthcare operations and has an interest in seeking an understanding of the larger picture of healthcare operations
  10. Optimizes software efficiencies and develops best practices
  11. Serves as the key point person and product expert for pharmacy software solutions
  12. Interprets vendor technical requirements and collaborates with vendors to implement fixes, new software releases, and product upgrades/enhancements
  13. Performs software implementation and/or upgrades including all testing and troubleshooting necessary for successful rollout
  14. Proposes new procedure and software enhancements to Pharmacy and Information Systems leadership as necessary
  15. Monitors, troubleshoots and resolves, medium complexity issues using established procedures (more complex issues are escalated to the Infusion Pharmacy Coordinator)
  16. Adheres to proper systems security protocols at all times
  17. Builds scheduled and ad hoc reports from all Infusion Pharmacy software to help facilitate decision-making
  18. Trains and supports pharmacy staff at regional Infusion Pharmacies involving select software
  19. Formulates backup processes and disaster recovery procedures for downtime readiness
  20. Maintains working knowledge of the preparation of parenteral sterile products and other related products as assigned
  21. Works as a team to ensure duties in areas of high workload and/or staff shortages are covered (this may include rotating through pharmacy technician duties such as med storage room, non-hazardous sterile compounding lab, and hazardous sterile compounding lab)
  22. Participates in hospital and/or CFCC committees as assigned
  23. Possesses knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality regulations as it pertains to treatment patients
  24. Performs all other duties as assigned
