The Information Release Educator/Coordinator will serve as the central point of contact for Munson Healthcareâs Patient Portal. This position is responsible for the daily coordination of Information Release office functions.
Ensures execution of processes and procedures for the health care systemâs Patient Portal. Analyzes outcomes, and collaborates across hospitals to identify and leverage solutions to achieve metrics. Reports Patient Portal metrics monthly, quarterly, and at fiscal-year end. Provides excellent service to customers and stakeholders through one-on-one interactions with consumers, physicians, office staff and hospital process owners.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelorâs degree in Business or Healthcare related field. Consideration will be given to candidate with Associateâs degree and/or recent, relevant experience and education.
Certification as a Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) is desirable.
Two or more years in Health Information Management (HIM) at Munson Medical Center (at a level 4) or in another healthcare setting is required.
Must meet Level 1-5 Requirements and Attributes of the Revenue Cycle Advancement Program (RCAP).
Previous experience and demonstrated proficiency in multiple HIM and desktop applications. Experience with Cerner PowerChart is preferred.
Proficiency in developing and presenting educational training materials is required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills is required.
Ability to apply Joint Commission requirements, HCFA regulations, HIPAA regulations, Medical Staff Rules and Regulations, and department procedures when reviewing a medical record to identify deficiencies that could jeopardize hospital certification, legal and/or financial status.

Requires successful completion of Medical Terminology within the probationary period if not previously obtained.
Reports to the Manager of Health Information Management.

Provides meeting support including composing and distributing meeting minutes.
Assists in the maintenance of respective materials such as policies/procedures/guidelines, work processes, job descriptions, competency tests.
Ensures compliance with the requirements of applicable governmental and/or oversight organizations.
Maintains lean and effective Patient Portal processes to meet current and future Meaningful Use requirements for Munson Healthcare hospitals and ambulatory physician practices, specifically focusing on colleague education and awareness, leveraging patient enrollment opportunities and documentation of both patient enrollment status as well as View â Download – Transmit (VDT) status.
Act as an enrollment champion; collaborating interdepartmentally to leverage points of patient contact and engagement to ensure communication of benefits to patients.
Act as portal ambassador by utilizing Meaningful Use VDT measures and other reports as indicators to work collaboratively with affiliate representatives, ensuring their performance achieves desired metrics.
Collaborate with Information Systems, Patient Access Services, Privacy Officers, Legal, Marketing, Patient Liaisons, Healthstream administrators, department managers, and ambulatory practice staff; analyzing, communicating, and executing on Patient Portal opportunities.
Connects and collaborates with other hospital systems and Cerner professionals through CernerCare to stay apprised of system updates and new portal processes.
Provide timely and professional response, guidance and referrals to consumers and physician offices, establishing and/or maintaining a positive impression of Munson Healthcare.
Supports update of portal announcements with Information Systems representatives. Works with marketing team to initiate and develop needed communication/education for patients and providers, including printed and electronic communications (e.g. brochures, emails, FAQs, newsletter articles, etc.) as needed.
