About Hospitality House Residential Coordinator

The Manor Coordinator’s base is in the apartment located on the 3rd floor of the Manor. The Coordinator is asked to use/stay in the Manor each night, Monday through Friday. The shift is divided into two parts; staffing the Manor desk from 3PM-8PM, and remaining on-call from 8PM-6AM (overnight). The overnight hours are spent mainly in the apartment. The apartment is equipped with a kitchen, bedroom, family room, washer, and dryer. It is set up with our computer system, phone, and intercom system to buzz in guests at our main entrance doors.


The Munson Manor Hospitality House Coordinator is a vital role to the service we provide the patients and families of Munson Medical Center. Important factors to being successful in this role are compassion, flexibility, ability to learn our reservation software, and ease of coordinating the ever-changing needs of our guests. The population we serve at the Manor are people who have loved ones going through a procedure at the hospital, parents of infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and patients going through ongoing treatment programs at Munson Medical Center. The coordinator works closely with the manager and a dedicated group of volunteers to ensure reservations are managed, rooms are cleaned, breakfast is served, and the various individual needs of our guests are met.


Ability to effectively communicate and uphold the policies and mission of the Hospitality House with guests, referral agents, potential donors, and community representatives.

Self-motivated with good organizational skills.

Two years previous experience in the hospitality industry, or the health care field.

Two years of college preferred.

Ability to assume part-time residential status in the Hospitality House.

ORGANIZATION: Responsible for the Hospitality House Independent Board under the supervision of the President of Munson Medical Center. Collaborates and consults with hospital personnel (patient liaison, social workers etc.), community representatives, and civic groups in defining and meeting the needs of the Hospitality House guests.

  3. Acknowledges that safety is a self-responsibility. Knows the physical requirements of the job and work within those guidelines. Performs job duties safely at all times, utilizing learned body mechanics and transferring/lifting techniques. Plans actions to promote safety. Reports any unsafe situation/equipment according to Hospital procedure.

  4. Establishes a supportive atmosphere for patients/families while they are guests at the Hospitality House.

  5. Oversees the general operations of the Hospitality House, including reservations, room assignments, staffing, maintenance, etc.

  6. Assumes managerial responsibilities in the absence of the Manager.

  7. Oversees operation of all volunteer activities, including recruitment, training/orientation, and scheduling.

  8. Assures that appropriate house and laundry supplies are always available.

  9. Takes up residence at the Hospitality House, on a part-time basis, and is available for emergencies as needed on a 24 hour basis during designated shifts, and if unable to be on call, will designate an appropriate substitute.

  10. Develops, implants, and enforces Hospitality House policies and procedures.

  11. Compiles monthly occupancy reports, and more frequent as needed.

  12. Provides financial accountability for receipts and expenses and assists in preparation of annual budgets.

  13. Compiles and distributes findings from guest surveys.

  14. Maintains guest confidentiality at all times.

  15. Assisting guests in and out of wheelchairs may be required.

  16. Valid driver’s license required.

  17. Lifting may be required.

  18. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
