About Home Medical Equipment Technician II

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Home Medical Equipment Technician with a minimum 5 years of experience working in a Home Medical Equipment company.

Previous Respiratory Care or Sleep Technology training highly desirable.

Possess excellent customer communication skills. Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adaptable in the workplace.

Must have and maintain a good driving record.

Possess a working phone.

Meets MHH established requirements for proof of health status. Physically able to lift 35 pounds. Demonstrates ability utilize good body mechanics or lifting techniques to avoid manipulating more than 35 pounds. Must bend, twist, stoop, and access all areas of office and warehouse.

Possesses current Michigan motor vehicle license, ability to drive a car, and an insured vehicle capable of transport to patient homes or other offices in various weather conditions.

Meets Home Health and Medicare standards as evidenced by criminal background check and fingerprinting.

ORGANIZATION

Reports to the Manager of Munson Home Medical Equipment.

May receive assignment from Branch Coordinator.

Has constant working contact with hospital staff, physicians, physicians’ staff, and the general public.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  1. Supports the Mission, Vision and Values of Munson Home Health.

  2. Embraces and supports the Performance Improvement philosophy of Munson Home Health.

  3. Promotes personal and patient safety.

  4. Uses effective customer service/interpersonal skills at all times.

  5. Is responsible for developing individual patient home medical equipment care plans as required by CHAP. Works closely with the Home Respiratory Specialist to coordinate services to our Sleep Product customers. Responsibilities will include:

· Sets up Cpap and BiPap machines

· Teaches customer/caregiver how to safely utilize, maintain, and troubleshoot their sleep equipment both in the office and in patients’ homes as necessary.

· Works with various respiratory care products, such as oxygen cylinders, oxygen concentrators, nebulizer compressors, continuous oximeters, etc. as needed.

· Assists walk in sleep product customers as needed while demonstrating a welcoming, supportive, and friendly atmosphere.

  1. Provides mask fitting and recommends interfaces appropriate for each customer.

  2. Provides for the delivery, assembly, and return of respiratory equipment.

  3. Performs callbacks on Cpap and BiPap equipment requiring monitoring/maintenance according to policy.

  4. Maintains accurate patient files and strives to remain current on reimbursement and industry issues.

  5. Cleans and maintains all HME equipment according to procedure.

  6. Accurately records and maintains all preventative maintenance (PM) and cleaning logs. Assures proper PM procedures are followed.

  7. Assures patient satisfaction with our services and fosters positive intra- and interdepartmental relations by performing all functions and activities with professionalism, confidentiality, and tact.

  8. Delivers services in compliance with the policy and procedure manual.

  9. Responsible for monitoring and performing all staff competency checks and in-services as needed.

  10. Coordinates all warehouse operations. Maintains adequate and accurate inventory.

  11. Maintains warehouse in accordance with all accrediting body (CHAP) standards.

  12. Monitors staff and building for adherence to safety guidelines. Is the company safety officer.

  13. Coordinates scheduling daily activities for technicians. Monitors delivery routes for efficiency via GPS.

  14. Monitors all MHME vehicles for safety checks, maintenance, and recall. Responsible for scheduling repair/maintenance.

  15. Employees with e-mail are required to maintain proficiency in the basic functions of the program and are also required to regularly check email and keep calendars up to date.

  16. Is responsible to perform on-call duties rotated as assigned.

  17. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
