Job Details:

This position is a dual role of Health Unit Coordinator and Rehab Technician for our Rehab Services Department. As a Health Unit Coordinator, you are responsible for supporting patient care delivery by processing physician orders, maintaining patient records, managing patient information, scheduling, registration, and providing customer service. This position requires excellent organization and communication skills (written and verbal).

As a Rehab Technician, you willwork under the personal supervision of a registered physical therapist, speech therapist and/or occupational therapist. The technician will assist the therapists with patient treatments; promote quality patient care by keeping the environment clean and orderly and ensuring availability of linens and supplies. If working in acute rehab, coordinates care activities for all therapists.


Minimum of high school graduate with training on personal computers (with different applications), general office equipment use and procedures. Course work in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology preferred.


Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred. One year of patient care experience required.

Other Job Requirements:

As a Health Unit Coordinator, you must have the ability to type a minimum of 40-50 words per minute. Ability to operate computers and other equipment as specified, and troubleshoot as necessary. Ability to work independently with minimal or no supervision. Must be able to work under pressure with time constraints. Works all shifts, with varying hours and weekend and holiday rotations. This is subject to change as the needs of the departments change.

As a Rehab Tech, you must be able to walk, stoop, and lift patients and equipment safely. Moderate to heavy lifting required. Must be able to tolerate being on feet for extended periods. Demonstrates sensitivity when interacting with diverse ethnic groups. Attends in-services to update knowledge and/or skills to enhance patient care is expected. Participation in departmental and hospital-wide meetings and committees as appropriate, proper attire and regular attendance is required.
