Department Summary:
Facilities Maintenance and Operations, part of Business Services, consist of over 50 skilled maintenance mechanics, 13 field leaders, 5 schedulers and numerous support staff.Facilities Maintenance and Operations is responsible for maintaining the day-to-day functionality of facilities statewide, totaling over 3.5 million square feet, covering more than 75% of the counties in Michigan’s lower peninsula.  Day-to-day operations consist of site safety, emergency response, corrective and preventative maintenance, customer and project funded work, and managing external contract vendors for lawn care, snow removal, custodial and security services.  Facilities Maintenance and Operations is driven to provide exceptional service at the lowest cost possible, by partnering with Facilities Engineering and Project Management, to all our customers.  Facilities Maintenance and Operations is dedicated to maintain state-of-the-art facilities to help deliver the energy you need when you need it.

Job Description/Responsibilities:
As a field leader, you will manage and support union employees performing maintenance work.  You will be responsible for site safety, maintaining building operating system(s), managing operating cost to the lowest levels, responding to emergency situations and overseeing work performed by suppliers (i.e. contract work, cleaning, lawn care and snow removal).
Responsible for managing various types of Low-Medium Complexity Facilities projects and the associated deliverables from Initiation through Closeout within the zone.  Monitors and controls planning and execution of various project activities and resources to ensure that established cost, time, scope and quality goals are maintained.  The field leader is responsible for precisely defining the scope of the project; preparing the project schedule, and updating that schedule as it evolves; proposing the project budget, and then managing the project so that it doesn’t cause cost overruns; making sure the project team has the supplies and human resources necessary to get the project done on time and on budget; identifying and minimizing potential risks to the project timeline and budget; making sure that all project team members understand what their responsibilities are; communicating the project’s progression to management; and ensuring the quality of the team’s work and any supplies or materials used by the team.  Acts as the customer’s single point of contact for the project.

This is a full time, regular employee position based out of the Traverse City Service Center and will be filled depending upon relevant qualifications and experience.  The Field Leader will oversee day-to-day management of designated Northwest Zone based properties and maintenance staff members. The field leader is the single point of contact for all facilities issues and customer satisfaction for the zone.

•High school diploma or GED
•3+ years of applicable experience

The following skills may set you apart:
•A Bachelor of Science in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or Business is preferred.
•Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
