Facilitator Nurse Residency Program
Salary Range:$29.41 Commensurate with experience
The Nurse Residency Program Facilitator is an experienced, clinically competent nurse who commits to investing in the professional development of newly licensed registered nurses participating in our Nurse Residency Program (NRP). The Facilitator assists the Transition to Practice Manager (TPM) to plan and facilitate scheduled NRP seminars. The Facilitator guides and supports the resident nurse, helping him or her achieve the goals of the program and exceed expectations as new member of a clinical unit’s staff.
Facilitates resident discussion of concerns, fears and frustrations at monthly seminar sessions with a focus on developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Establishes an interpersonal relationship with the nurse resident that conveys an investment in the resident’s success and development.
Works with the nurse resident, TPM, and Clinical Nurse Manager to identify the resident’s learning needs and available resources.
Gives the resident feedback on performance and progress based on observation of clinical performance, assessment of patient care documentation, and assessment of patient care outcomes.
Helps the resident make use of feedback and self-assessment to evaluate his or her progress toward established goals.
Encourages and teaches critical thinking skills in clinical experiences and other learning activities.
Models and facilitates professional nursing practice in leadership with healthcare team and institution, patient safety, and use and evaluation of information sources and research.
EDUCATION & LICESNSURE/CERTIFICATION
Master’s degree in Nursing required.
Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
- Minimum of 5 years nursing clinical experience required.
2 years of leadership and nursing education preferred.
Professional certification preferred.
