About Dental Lab Technician Trainee

As we continue to grow, we are seeking to fill a number of key positions within our organization, including this opportunity at NDX DH Baker in Traverse City, MI for a Dental Lab Technician Trainee. No previous experience is necessary; we offer paid hands-on training. However, individuals with any background in the dental field are encouraged to apply!

The regular hours for this position vary but may fall between 8:00am and 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. These hours are subject to change.

This is a full-time position featuring employee benefits including: health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance; paid holiday, vacation, and sick time; 401K with company contribution; and tuition reimbursement!

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Understand and follow all safety procedures for all machinery in the model department.

  • Learn the importance of proper powder to water ratios used when pouring impressions.

  • Grind models to prepare them for pinning/basing.

  • Arbor bands all models.

  • Glue pins.

  • Base models.

  • Understand and select the proper articulator for different applications.

  • Trim all removable model bases.

  • To efficiently unpack incoming cases, disinfect cases and log items received with the case.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.

  • Excellent hand-eye coordination.

  • Strong ability to read, listen, comprehend, retain and execute on written and verbal instructions.

  • High level of organizational skill with the ability to prioritize work.

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

  • Required: High school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • No experience required.

Hazardous Materials or Equipment Used:

  • Sharp Tools/Instruments.

  • Investment material.

  • Hot glue gun.

  • Bunsen burner.

  • Lathe & Hand piece.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Required to sit, stand, walk, and/or reach.

  • Exhibit fine motor skills and/or perform repetitive motions.

  • Read and interpret prescriptions and other required documentation.

  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information.

  • Vision capabilities: depth perception, attention to detail and color.
