About Compensation and Benefits Analyst


Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field required.

Minimum of three (3) years demonstrated competence in compensation analysis.

Minimum of three (3) years of experience with the administration of employer-provided

benefits, preferably in a customer service role. Transferable skills from a related Human

Resources profession may be considered if no compensation or benefits experience.

Proficiency using Microsoft Office Word and Advanced Excel skills required.

Working knowledge of legislation, FLSA in particular, and legal decisions affecting

compensation and human resources is desirable.

Demonstrated ability to take complex data, interpret it, make sound recommendations and communicate them in an easy-to-understand manner.

Must have the ability to make judgments on sensitive, confidential issues without exhibiting

bias and maintain a high degree of confidentiality at all times.

Exceptional attention to detail required. Ability to work independently a plus.


Reports to the Director Compensation Benefits and HRIS.

Close day-to-day working and consultative relationship with other Human Resources staff.

Continuous contact and interaction with staff and management personnel regarding

compensation concepts/methods and application and interpretation of appropriate policy.

  • Communicates, relates and interacts tactfully and effectively with employees of all levels.

  • Prepares data for compensation and benefits analyses, including quarterly turnover reports for balanced scorecard and ad hoc requests from business partners.

  • Answers employee queries and provides customer service back-up to Benefits Specialists, particularly during open enrollment and new hire orientation.

  • Gathers data to assist with completion of wage/salary surveys within an appropriate labor market and maintains ready access to current market data.

  • Audits jobs for content and helps prepare and update job descriptions reflecting job responsibilities and entry requirements.

  • Assists Sr Compensation Analyst in evaluating job descriptions and makes recommendations regarding wage/salary assignment utilizing position comparatives and market wage data.

  • Assists recruitment staff with wage setting for new hires, transfers and promotions.

  • Generates standard and special reports from Payroll/HRIS; assists management in accessing relevant labor information.

  • Interprets wage/benefit policy to others. Monitors adherence to and comprehension of policy by others and recommends change to improve comprehension, internal equity, conformity and clarity.

  • Maintains current knowledge of legislation and court decisions applicable to FLSA, wage administration, benefits and human resources in general.

  • Gathers information for Worker’s Compensation, EEO, and other government mandated reports.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
