TBAISD is seeking Behavior Support Assistants for the TBAISD Service Area

 

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work autonomously

  • Maintain certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI)
  • Completed the Statewide Autism Resource Training (START)
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable
  • Ability to work in a variety of settings
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Organized and self-confident
  • Computer literate
  • Positive attitude about working with students with maladaptive/challenging behaviors
  • Understanding of Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)
  • Basic understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
  • Understanding of Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA)
  • Understanding of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
  • Working knowledge of a variety of office machines such as copier, laminator, book binding machine, scanner, printer, computer and fax machine
  • Minimum high school graduate; college experience/degree preferred
  • Dress and behave professionally at all times
  • Have a vehicle in working order for travel to different school districts as needed

RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities are categorized in three ways:  Support to Students, Support to Staff and Procedural Responsibilities

Support to Students:

• Observe students educational settings and report information objectively in written and oral form

• Support implementation of behavioral interventions as needed to assist students in the classroom

• Provide 1:1 assistance to students as needed

Support to Staff:

• Independently follow through with directions from supervisor and/or consultant

• Support implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP)

• Coach professional staff to implement BIPs with fidelity

• Consult with staff regarding the use of appropriate behavioral resources as identified through collaboration with the consultants

• Provide training and coaching support to teachers and assistants as determined by data and coordinated with the consultants

• Lead debriefings following a crisis

• Collect data using multiple recording methods (e.g., time sampling, interval, frequency, duration, etc.)

• Compile and analyze data

• Co-facilitate behavior trainings

• Co-facilitate data reviews

• Facilitate in-school detention communication between LEA’s and consultant

• Participate in meetings pertaining to the child, IEP, FBA/BIP, MATRIX, professional conferences or in-services as coordinated with the consultant

Procedural Responsibilities:

• Fulfill mandated requirements for reporting suspected child abuse/neglect

• Monitor fidelity of implementation of BIPs

• Prepare materials for parent meetings, in-services and conferences facilitated by consultants

• Process student files for consultants

• Keep accurate records

• Assist with documentation (behavior incidents, time out logs, debriefing, etc.)

• Understand and maintain confidentiality of students and families per the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA)

 

EMPLOYMENT TERMS: 190 days/per year
