About Automation Electrical Designer

  • Experienced Lead Designer Level – minimum 5 years direct experience
  • Must be experience in AutoCAD for drawing preparation. AutoCAD Electrical preferred.
  • Must have ability to design system from the ground up. Take mechanical design and engineer controls solution from concept to complete build package
  • Must be experienced in industry specifications, perform calculations/documentation (i.e. safety curtain reach in calculations)
  • Controls Design – need to have ability to design entire automation controls design, including the following:
    • Control Panel design – PLC hardware, power systems, drives, servos, interfaces
    • Distributed I/O systems – local and distributed networked I/O, pneumatics, interfaces – also network calculations
    • Pneumatic controls design – valves, sizing, flow controls
    • Hydraulic controls design – system sizing, discrete and proportional controls, cooling systems
    • Motion systems – perform motion analysis for system sizing and component selection
    • Machine wiring layout, design, material selection
    • Shop build support – including hardware setup, programming of safety section of PLCs
  • Hardware Knowledge
    • Rockwell and Siemens PLCs, HMIs, drives and peripheral hardware – both integrated safety and not
    • Vision Systems integration – cameras, lights, networks, vision controllers (Cognex, Dalsa, Banner, Keyence)
    • Weld Controllers
    • Motion Controls
    • Industrial Networks, Distributed I/O
  • Other Technology
    • Peen Markers, RFID, photo-electric, proximity, LVDT, load cell, strain gauge, temp, flow meter)
    • Lubrication and Sealant systems
  • Applications
    • Material Handling
      • Conveyor
      • Robotic pick/place
    • Assembly Cells
    • Robotic Welding (Arc, Resistance, Laser)
