Win • ter • ven • tion (noun), is a weekend of activities, February 14th – 16th to celebrate our winter wonderland and shake off the winter blues. Although not the first ever winter festival in Harbor Springs, this inaugural “Wintervention” is sure to provide attractions and activities for everyone!
Events include family snow sculpting; toddler sledding with hot cocoa; winter snowshoeing in the nature preserve and elsewhere; “Harborball”–a take-off on broomball with brooms and beach balls; ice boat and antique snowmobile displays; kids and pets doing a “sled dog” race; and an historic look at winters past in Harbor with old fashioned games at the Harbor Springs History Museum.
Saturday ends with a bonfire and “s’mores at four” with Etta’s Kitchen, a local food truck, selling s’more kits.
Sunday begins with a special breakfast at the American Legion Post and ends with the 10th Annual Harbor Springs Area Chili Cook Off at Stafford’s Pier, 2-4pm. People’s Choice Awards go to Professionals who vie for the perpetual “Chili Bowl” Trophy and a year’s worth of bragging rights. Amateur contestants compete for a $100 Cash Prize awarded to the winner!
There is also a very special competition within the Chili Cook Off – the Fire, Police and the Allied EMS departments go head to head for the best First Responder’s Chili! $10 tickets purchased at the door. Cash bar available.
Harbor Springs is just off Historic M-119, across the Bay from Petoskey.
