Water/Ways Grand Opening Celebration:
Join us in celebrating water.

As a reminder to all
in attendance of how precious and necessary water
is to all of us, we will begin the Grand Opening
of this Smithsonian Museum on Main Street
Water/Ways exhibit with a Water Ceremony.
Deleta Smith from the Little Traverse Bay Bands
of Odawa Indians will bless the water.

The Waganakising Odawa Anishinabek have been in
their homelands in this area for centuries. Please
take this opportunity to participate in one of their
sacred ceremonies to honor Nibiish/ The Water,
which is our life-giving force. Bring friends, enjoy
the water ceremony, food, music, speakers and get
a chance to see this national exhibit. The Jongleurs
Recorders and Robin Berry Williams will provide
background music at various times and Dave
Dempsey, author and scholar for the Michigan
Humanities Council will speak on The Wonder of
Michigan’s Waters.
