8pm, Marquette Park, most Thursdays in June & July, FREE
With a spectacular backdrop, our summer concert series takes place on the lawn of a National Historic Landmark, Marquette Park, which is at the foothills of Historic Fort Mackinac downtown across from the marina. Bring a picnic and tune in for some great live folk, rock, country, blues–the best of Americana. All concerts are free. We do recommend bringing a blanket or lawn chairs for your comfort.
In his 1990 novel, Hocus Pocus, Kurt Vonnegut wrote “The 2 prime movers in the Universe are Time and Luck.” And we agree. It was luck that brought us together and time has moved us along through the early days of love, common language learning, repertoire garnering, transitioning into marriage, two studio albums with the Flatbellys, thousands of road miles, and a life devoted wholeheartedly to the propagation of Music as we grow to know it: The Music of our time and place, educated and inspired by our predecessors and peers who we have the great fortune of learning from.
