A free poetry reading in the round featuring local poets Paul Stebleton, Michael Hughes, Marcy Branski, & Carrie Cantalupo Sharp.
- Paul is a Battle Creek native and won the Hopwood Award for Poetry in 1992. That same year he published his first Chapbook, Bus Station Meditations. Since then Stebleton’s works have been published across the country beside the works of Bukowski, Ginsberg and Hunter S. Thompson. He is now the owner of Landmark Books, a rare bookshop in the historic Traverse State Hospital and operates Squirrel Can Press which published limited edition postcards and broadsides.
- Michael Hughes has been writing since high school. He takes his inspiration from nature, and from the fascinating, silly, tragic, inspiring things people do. With family deep in the soil of West Virginia, he now lives with his wife Janet in Benzie County, Michigan, which he also considers almost heaven.
- Marcy Branski is a former advanced placement writing teacher and high school library-media specialist. Marcy writes and has published both prose and poetry, has taught an after school writing workshop for TCAPS high school students and serves as chair, cheerleader, poetry judge and editor for the National Writers Series’ Scholarship program.
- Carrie Cantalupo Sharp has been writing poetry since she was a little girl. She used to make little paper books and illustrate them. She is the recipient of four Poet’s Night Out Awards, including the Horizon Book Award in 2013. Her poems and short stories have appeared in many magazines and anthologies since the 1980’s.
