Join the Harbor Springs Area Historical Society to celebrate the life and work of inventor Ephraim Shay during Shay Days 2016! This family-friendly, two-day event will take place Friday and Saturday, July 15 and 16, 2016. Shay Days events run between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm both days at Shay Park, the Shay Hexagon House and the Harbor Springs History Museum at 349 E. Main Street.
Activities on both Friday and Saturday include live steam model trains under the tent at Shay Park with the Michigan Small Scale Live Steamers group, an electric train, games, historical photograph displays and self-guided tours at the Shay Hexagon House, and crafts, games and more at the Harbor Springs History Museum. Lemonade and cookies will also be provided under the tent at the Shay House.
A walking tour titled “In Shay’s Day” will explore the Shay buildings and the former railroad grade of Shay’s Hemlock Central on both Friday and Saturday. The tour will begin at 10:30 am at the Harbor Springs History Museum and reservations are encouraged. Admission for Shay Days is by donation with all proceeds benefiting the Historical Society.
