This summer, Riverside Shakespeare, LLC turns 15; what better way to celebrate than to present the most famous of William Shakespeare’s plays: Hamlet.
Hamlet, under the direction of Mychelle Hopkins, is set in the present day, to comment on the paranoia that technology can produce. Some of the themes that Hamlet offers coincide very neatly with our present day concerns of being spied on, mental health and political power.
David Dennison performs the title role, with H.T. Snowday as Claudius, Maryscott O’Connor as Gertrude and Allix Geiger as Ophelia. The cast is filled out with actors ranging from those who are performing with Riverside Shakespeare for the first time, all the way to those who have performed every year with the company.
Admission is free, although donations are always appreciated. Audience members should bring lawn chairs or a blanket for seating.
Suttons Bay is the sweet little village about 15 miles north of Traverse City on M-22.
