In celebration of their 70th Anniversary, Oliver Art Center will host its 2017 Fall Read. The subject of this year’s read will be Milestones. Milestones can be an action or event that makes a significant impact on one’s life. “We are asking our writers to explore their milestones as we celebrate a tremendous one for the organization,” said Mercedes Michalowski, Exec. Dir. of OAC. Last year’s event was greatly attended and enjoyed by all who read and listened. We are looking forward to hearing many new short works read by well-known local authors and some fresh faces. If you would like to read, please submit your work before October 23 to [email protected] in line with these guidelines:
All writing must be the original work of the reader.
Each reading is limited to 5 minutes. This is typically 2-3 poems or 500-600 words of prose. If you’re not sure you can read your work in 5 minutes, time yourself.
Subject: Milestones, but should be suitable for a “family” audience.
The first 15 readers whose work meets this criteria will make up our Fall program.
Friends and families of readers, along with anyone who enjoys literature, are welcome to attend. Event is free and open to the public.
