“Attention is the beginning of devotion,” wrote Mary Oliver, whose poetry and essays about the natural world have guided millions of readers toward a deeper appreciation of the flora and fauna with whom we share this planet. To love a place well is a form of stewardship, and to spend time outdoors, paying attention to what we find there, is something all of us can do to take better care of our environment, as well as hone our skills of observation and description, which every writer must do.
Join poet and teacher Holly Wren Spaulding for a nature walk and guided writing exercises, that will help you use a writer’s notebook more effectively, and fall in love with the world a little more.
All levels welcome. We will meet at the Library and venture out from there. Please bring a notebook and pen.
