August 23, 2011
9:00 am - 5:00 pm

North Manitou Island
MI United States

Preserve Historic Sleeping Bear and the Leelanau Historical Society are teaming up to provide an enjoyable experience visiting the island and viewing some of PHSB’s restoration work.

Join us for a day exploring the natural beauty and learning about the island’s vibrant historical contribution to Leelanau County – it’s settlers, shipwrecks, commerce and mainland connections.

We will depart from Leland via Manitou Island Transit at 9:00am and arrive on the island about 10:30am. A light breakfast will be served on the dock before we depart. A box lunch and beverages will be provided during our visit to the island.

Tours will include historic Cottage Row. During the Cottage Row tour, volunteers from Preserve Historic Sleeping Bear will give an overview of our project restoring the Katie Shepherd Hotel and work which has begun on the Frank Lloyd Wright Blossom Cottage.

1+ hour hike in the settlement area. Level of difficulty: easy. We will depart at 3:30pm to return to Leland by 5:00pm. Rain/inclement weather date is Thursday, August 26.
Tickets are limited! $60 for LHS or PHSB members and $85 for non-members; cash, checks and credit cards accepted. Call 231-256-7475 or e-mail [email protected] for more information.
