North Central Michigan College will be presenting CAE Healthcare METIman, our patient simulator, to Misty Jakeway’s health occupation classes at Petoskey High School on Tuesday, November 24 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Jim Cousino, North Central’s Coordinator of Emergency Medical Services, will demonstrate METIman’s capabilities and discuss North Central’s EMS program. Local public safety agencies will be joining METIman at the high school to discuss the varied career opportunities that come with Emergency Medical Education.
METIman simulates true human physiology and delivers a more objective learning experience. He is a preferred simulator for indoor-outdoor or interdisciplinary scenarios requiring triage, treatment and transport.
Students will be able to check pulse, blood pressure, hear lung sounds and learn how CPR works. North Central’s Allied Health/EMS programs offer this state-of-the-art training as part of their core EMS education curriculum as well as community and regional public safety training.
North Central will work with Harbor Springs Police Department to facilitate an actual life-saving training scenario for all emergency response agencies on December 17, 2015, at Meyer ACE Hardware in Harbor Springs. METIman will be at the store for demonstrations from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and then will be part of an actual interactive medical emergency response to a simulated cardiac event from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. This will be open to the public.
