LECTURE SERIES PRESENTS AN EVENING OF MAGICAL ENTERTAINMENT

North Central Michigan College’s Lecture Series presents an evening of magical entertainment with local magician, Jania Taylor, Tuesday, April 17, at 7 p.m. in the gymnasium in the Student and Community Resource Center on the Petoskey campus. This lecture is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Jania Taylor is an award-winning magician who has been classically trained in the art of prestidigitation. A graduate of the Chavez Studio of Magic, a college of manual dexterity and prestidigitation in Colon, Michigan, she is the third female in the history of the school to complete the course. She was the first female magician to do a solo tour for the Armed Forces Entertainment taking magic and comedy relief to our troops and families in Alaska. Jania has charmed audiences at such noted resorts as Grand Hotel, Mackinac Island, Michigan, The Greenbrier, White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia and Rancho de las Caballeros, Wickenburg, Arizona.

Jania will present “Those Magical Dames,” featuring six overlooked female magicians, starting with those that paved the way back in the 1800s, trouping shows by steamer ship and trains, then, as time went on, to those performing on modern-day stages. Audiences will get a peek at their trials and triumphs and will witness some of the magic that was performed in their shows. The lecture runs an hour with time for questions.

Free admission. Please email [email protected] to reserve your seats or call 231-348-6600.
