This series of five classes feature viticulture, the making of wine. The course will be taught from the text “From Grapes to Wine; Growing Cold Hardy Wine Grapes in Northern Michigan” by Author: Dr. Jerry Perrone.
Interest in wine has grown throughout the industrialized world. In the newer wine-producing areas, experience has led to vast improvement in wine quality to meet the expectations of customers with increased knowledge and adventurous spirits. These trends create the potential for continued growth for Michigan’s wine industry. In August of 2016, the “Tip of the Mitt” American Viticultural Area (AVA) on Michigan’s Lower Peninsula was approved and effective!
We are holding these classes in Cheboygan as there is great opportunity for the wine business in this region. It is one of the areas in northern Michigan which is under- represented in the wine industry and has great potential for the future.
