Marsha Smith to be Honored with Legacy Award
Art Park Legacy Gala Takes Place August 17 – 6 p.m.
THOMPSONVILLE, MICH – Michigan Legacy Art Park will recognize Marsha Smith with the Legacy Award during the 2018 Legacy Gala, the signature fundraiser for Michigan Legacy Art Park. The event, presented by Mo and Linda White, takes place on August 17 in the Crystal Center at Crystal Mountain.
The Legacy Award honors those who have made a significant, positive impact on Michigan’s arts, history, culture, or environment. Marsha Smith will be recognized for over four decades of community building in northwest lower Michigan. She has played an instrumental role in many noteworthy projects in the Traverse City region including the State Theatre, Women’s Resource Center, the Watershed Studies Institute, The Grand Vision, NorthSky Nonprofit Network, and more. In her role as Executive Director of Rotary Charities, she has led the organization through twenty years of evolution from traditional philanthropy to a changemaking organization.
The 2018 Legacy Gala features a silent auction, sparkling-wine reception, locally-sourced dinner, live music, and the presentation of the Legacy Award. All event proceeds benefit Michigan Legacy Art Park, a sculpture park in Benzie County dedicated to sharing stories of the people, events and natural resources that continue to shape the legacy of Michigan. With over fifty contemporary works of art, an eclectic concert series, and a wide variety of programs, the Art Park provides a rich cultural experience for tens of thousands of visitors each year, including students from around the region whose history, geography, science, and art studies come to life on Art Park field trips.
