Michigan District of Kiwanis Convention to be Held at Boyne Mountain. Public Invited to Participate.
The Michigan District of Kiwanis International will be holding its annual District Convention at Boyne Mountain September 6 through 9. The convention will include many fun and exciting events for Kiwanis members and the host club, Boyne City, would like to extend an invitation to the public to join us in some of these events.
The first is our keynote speaker, Tony Rubleski, on Friday, September 7 at 2:30 in the Boyne Mountain Civic Center. Rubleski is the president of Mind Capture Group. His message is designed to help people “capture” more minds and profits. He is an in-demand speaker who’s given hundreds of presentations over the past decade, a strategic business coach, and global event promoter with over 20+ years of experience in the personal development industry.
His second book in the Mind Capture series went to #1 in three business categories on Amazon.com and received positive reviews from a wide range of leaders in marketing, sales, psychology to academia. His latest book, Trailblazers: Leadership Lessons from 12 Pioneers Who Beat the Odds and Influenced Millions, will re-release on September 4, with New York publisher Morgan James.
There will be a $10 cover charge for non-convention attendees, and advance registration is required. To learn more about Tony or the Mind Capture Series visit his website at www.mindcapturegroup.com. To reserve your space on September 7, you may register online by visiting the Boyne City Chamber website (www.boynechamber.com) and visting their Events Calendar. If unable to register online, call the Boyne Chamber at 231.582.6222.
The second event the public is invited to attend, is a fundraising event for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation on the evening of Friday, September 7. The event will be held during the final Stroll The Streets event of the season in the parking lot of the Parkside Grill and Treats at 201 Water St. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer and donor powered charity committed to supporting the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives. There are over a dozen major types of childhood cancers, and countless subtypes. Most are different from adult cancers and require unique treatment. St Baldrick’s is the largest private funder of childhood cancer research behind the US Government.
St Baldrick’s Foundation raises money for research into childhood cancers. The main source of their fundraising is through “head shaving” events. This fundraiser will be no exception. We currently have 8 volunteers signed up to collect pledges and donations in exchange for having their heads shaved, including local Kiwanian, Syrina Dawson. We would love to have additional volunteers. If anyone is interested in joining a good cause and willing to have their head shaved please contact, Syrina Dawson at 231.675.2492. More information regarding St Baldricks can be obtained on their website at www.stbaldricks.org.
The final event, the public is invited to attend will be an evening of pure fun. Adam and the Cabana Boys will be playing to wrap up the convention in the Grand Lodge at Boyne Mountain on Saturday evening from 9-11pm. The public is invited to join us for a last evening of dancing and fun. Adam and the Cabana Boys is a musical group consisting of Adam Magellan, Pat Ryan, and Sean Bielby. They form a powerhouse trio with one objective in mind: FUN. Fantastic entertainers in their own right, when their forces are combined the result is a night of banter, beers, and awesome music. A $5.00 cover charged will be asked at the door.
We hope that the public will join these events for a fun, educational and rewarding experience. The Boyne City Kiwanis Club looks forward to sharing the Kiwanis experience with the public.
