Join Mario Batali, celebrity chef, restauranteur and part-time Leelanau County resident, as he broadcasts live on the Omelette & Friends morning show on WKLT, from the Café of Horizon Books, on Friday, November 28 from 8:00 am to 11:00 am.  Horizon Bookstore guests get to be the live studio audience as Mario Batali does a cooking demonstration.

Copies of Mario Batali’s new cookbook, America: Farm to Table will be available for purchase and afterwards, he will be available to sign copies.

Mario Batali, who knows the importance of ingredients to any amazing dish, sees farmers as the rock stars of the food world. In this new book he, and journalist Jim Webster, celebrate American farmers, their high quality products and their culture defined by hard work, integrity and pride.

Mario Batali asked his chef friends from Nashville, Tennessee, to San Francisco, to tell him who their favorite farmers were, and those farmers graciously shared their personal stories along with their top-of-the-line produce and products. In Northern Michigan, America tells the story of Suttons Bay’s Bardenhagen Farms, covering the Bardenhagen story from Vernon to Ryan to the next generation with Ginger and her brother Chris. The Bardenhagen’s Farms are famous for fruit and the story includes cherries, of course.

Plan your black Friday shopping trip around Mario Batali’s cooking demonstration or stop in afterwards to see if Horizon Books has a cache of signed copies of Mario Batali’s new cookbook, America: Farm to Table, left for the foodie on your list.

Can’t get to Traverse City to shop? Mario Batali’s new cookbook, America: Farm to Table is also available on ShopMyNorth.com.
