The Big Picture Society features films of public interest on current political/environmental and/or social justice topics on the 2nd Monday of the month from October through June.
Based on a article written by author and filmmaker Amy Sewell, the featured movie looks inside the lives of 11-year-old New York City public school kids who journey into the world of ballroom dancing and reveal pieces of themselves along the way. Told from the students’ perspectives as the children strive toward the final citywide competition, the film chronicles the experiences of students at three high schools in the neighborhoods of Tribeca, Washington Heights and Bensonhurst.
There is no fee for the movie but good will donations to the LWVLC will be accepted. You may bring refreshments to share. No alcohol allowed. For more information call 409-9339 or see http://lwvleelanau.org/
