February 1: Current Issues Related to the Great Lakes and Coastal Areas
Come and learn about progress in cleaning up polluted sediment areas and what’s next on the North American Freshwater Seas.
February 9 (Friday): Geology with Dr. Jeffrey Lockridge (This is our only program held on a Friday) A virtual walk along the shoreline: recent glacial features and underlying bedrock will be described. Bring your favorite rocks and “Dr. Rock” may be able to provide its history!
February 15: Green ER — Green ER is a volunteer group of Elk Rapids Villagers with the mission of education about environmental issues. This discussion will include a brief history of Green ER and will highlight some of their activities.
February 25: The Survey Vessel Steelhead: 50 years of Lake Michigan Fisheries Research 2018 will mark the Steelhead’s 50th anniversary of service out of the port of Charlevoix. These vessels are critical in the DNR’s mission to conserve, protect and manage the Great Lakes for the use and enjoyment of current and future generations.
