KINGSLEY—Sandy Blumenfeld, WNMC DJ and popular local musician, will make a benefit appearance at Rock N Jam, a monthly community music session held at The Rock on Saturday, April 8, from 4:30-8 p.m.
Blumenfeld, who also hosts the local “Radio Motion” show on UpNorth Media TV, will sit in with the Rock N Jam regulars and perform a couple of songs from his new folk-roots-blues album, “Stone Wah!,” recently released at a sold-out show at Sleder’s Family Tavern.
Rock N Jam is an open-mic session with a great twist—anybody is free to play along on every tune, making it a true community musical event.
Guitar and fiddle player Don Scharmen: “Our core group includes exceptional players such as guitarists Neil Wilganhoff, Mike and Dave Fanella, John Thompson and bassist Doug Gerstler, but everyone is welcome to join in, regardless of their skill level. But most of the crowd is just there to listen.”
The music tends toward old-time country, roots and early rock ‘n’ roll. People show up with guitars, mandolins, banjos, fiddles, and there’s a piano in the house.
