The most memorable poems pulse with a human heat fueled by the author’s personal storehouse of words, images and resonant sources. Such works transform private impressions, ideas and experiences before connecting with readers on the page. Do you ever wonder how they do it?  This two-day writing intensive presents writing experiments and strategies for crossing the distance between the inner and outer elements of the poem. We’ll learn from works that achieve their power through imaginative leaps and emotional risk-taking, and we’ll spend time each day working on our own poems. I’ll also demonstrate useful rituals to begin, as well as ways to see work-in-progress with new eyes. While this is not a beginning level class, I welcome anyone with an earnest desire to join the discussion and write with us.
