This stress-free workshops teaches students how to break the rules and get away from their usual style of painting. It is all about color, layering, stamping, scraping, and who knows what else! Carolyn will demo in the morning and afternoon. During the day, there will be discussions and individual instruction. The use of large canvases will enable students to loosen up!
While many supplies for this class are optional, basic house paint and large canvases are the only real necessities! A full supply list will be available upon registration.
Carolyn Riegelman is a fine artist based in Denton, Texas. Her primary work is abstraction, with a focus on design and color. She paints primarily in mixed media, acrylic, and oil.
Born and raised in Texas, Carolyn could often be found drawing horses in her spare time. It was one of these drawings, shown in a youth exhibit at the Houston Museum of Art, that introduced Carolyn to the wider world of art that could be found in museums and galleries. Thus began her obsession. Carolyn studied art in Texas, then moved to southern California, where she married, raised two children, and continued to paint and study. She was inspired by the vistas of California and influenced by the likes of Kline, Pollock, and so many others.
In 1987, Carolyn began selling some paintings and commissioning works, and by 1998 had devoted her full attention to painting professionally. Her first solo show was in 2002 at the Edmund Craig Gallery, which continues to represent her work. Carolyn’s work currently shows at The Classic at Roanoke in Roanoke, Texas, as well as in numerous private and corporate collections. www.carolynriegelman.com
