Enjoy free admission and special tours in celebration of International Sculpture Day at Michigan Legacy Art Park!
What better excuse to enjoy a spring day in the Art Park than a worldwide celebration of sculpture? Check out some special things happening throughout the day:
9:00AM – STEWARDSHIP DAY – ART PARK SPRING CLEANING
Join us and lend a hand to get the park looking beautiful for the season! Bring a friend, a rake, gloves or tarps. There are a variety of ways to help out for all physical ability levels.
Individuals and groups welcome
Bring a friend for free admission all day. Explore at your own pace, or join this tour at 10:00am to discover more about the park and the artwork.
2:00PM – ARTISTS + ARTISTS TOUR
Artistic Director, Kaz McCue will lead the way on this special tour designed for artists.
We will be joined by several other MLAP “Legacy” artists who will each share and answer questions about the processes and inspiration behind their pieces in our collection: Sergio Degiusti, Dewey Blocksma, Bill Allen, David Petrakovitz, Patricia Innis, and Eric Troffkin.
Artists (from aspiring to established), arts professionals and art lovers are all invited and strongly encouraged to attend this tour.
This is an excellent opportunity for university or graduate sculpture programs to spend a day gleaning decades of experienced wisdom from these artists.
5:00PM – ARTISTS MIXER AT IRON FISH
Following the artists’ tour, plan to spend some good time making new friends at Iron Fish Distillery. It’s a great chance to get to know other artists from around Michigan, share stories and dream up new collaborations.
Iron Fish Distillery is Michigan’s first working farm solely dedicated to the practice of distilling small-batch craft spirits.
