The Commission on Aging & Senior Center sponsors the Community Garden for the 6th year. The property is being made available courtesy of the VFW. The Community Garden is located at the corner of Madsen and Maryanne Streets.
There are eight 10’ x 10’ plots and thirty five 10’ x 18’ plots available free of charge to Crawford County Residents. In addition, there are two handicapped-accessible planter boxes available.
Sign up is currently taking place and continues through June until all plots are assigned. Those persons interested in obtaining a free plot should contact Helen Nolan at 989. 348.7123. Bridge cards (food stamps) may be used to purchase seed and plants to produce food.
The Community Garden Friends Meetings take place on the second Wednesday of each month, 2pm at the Gardens. The meetings focus on the organizational matters of this year’s Community Garden. Topics covered include: when is the best time to plant & pick your crop, sharing recipes and much more.
Grayling is east of Traverse City where M-72 meets I-75.
