Author Signing with Chris Weston, A Baseball Man, at Horizon Books.
Eugene Jackson loves baseball. Retired from a lifetime spent in the game, Eugene relocates to Chicago and opens a small neighborhood grocery store. Outside his back wall sits an old, dilapidated ball diamond that hosted youth baseball for over fifty years. Eugene convinces his coffee drinking cohorts to rebuild the park and bring baseball back to the community.
Young Carl Richmond loves baseball too. Downtrodden and short on luck, baseball is all he has. Carl is small for his age. But Carl has grit and determination. He’s a competitor and needs that edge just to get by because Carl has nothing…he’s an orphan.
Eugene watches the games from his office window and notices Carl immediately. Something about Carl intrigues him. Eugene’s interest peaks when Carl steals from his store and leaves his coveted Johnny Bench baseball card behind as evidence.
