Heather Outman, a native of East Jordan is a self-taught photographer. She will be displaying her works throughout the library during May and June.
In 2010, she launched a small business called Pink Kayak Photography, in order to pursue her passion of photography.
She has been a contributing photographer for East Jordan organizations such as the City, Chamber of Commerce, School, Friends of the Jordan, local newspapers, several animal rescue organizations and numerous special events including weddings, family and senior pictures and private gatherings.
Some of her most noted accomplishments that have gained recognition both locally and nationally, has been with the Jordan River and its waterfowl. Especially the Mute swan. In this community, Heather has earned the reputation as the “Swan Lady”, a title she holds dear in her heart. Heather’s photographic work and passion for waterfowl helped to obtain and put in place the diverters on the wires above the city bridge. It is a major Fly Path and has helped to save many birds from entanglement and certain death, which was an ongoing problem for decades.
Heather has a degree in teaching and has taught at East Jordan for many years. Now that she has retired from teaching, she is raising her family with husband Tom who both own Jordan Valley Fitness. They have four children Matt, Zak, Tommie Rae, and Tara.
