The Mackinac Bridge is one of Michigan’s most recognizable structures. The Harbor Springs Area Historical Society invites you to learn more about this engineering marvel at their next Harbor History Talk on Thursday, January 19 with Bob Sweeney, Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer for the Mackinac Bridge Authority.
Sweeney’s presentation, entitled “The Past, Present and Future Challenges of the Mackinac Bridge,” will cover the history of the bridge along with stories from his decades of service with the Mackinac Bridge Authority. Mr. Sweeney’s career has spanned more than thirty years in a variety of positions in the transportation industry. Prior to his appointment at the Mackinac Bridge in 2002 he was the engineer in charge of the six county Michigan Department of Transportation Cadillac office.
Sweeney’s talk will begin at 5:30 pm on the second floor of the Harbor Springs History Museum, 349 E. Main Street, and refreshments will be provided. Admission to the talk is $5 for adults and free for current Historical Society members.
