The Golden Dragon Acrobats may perform acrobatics that date back 2,500 years, but the troupe’s modern-day take on these athletic feats continues to keep audiences spellbound across the world. In 1949, Lien Chi Chang and his family brought acrobatic performance from Wu Qiao, China, to the audiences in Taiwan. However, due to the Chinese civil war, the group was unable to return to mainland China. Lien Chi Chang officially established the Chinese Golden Dragon Acrobats in 1967 with his family, whose members included son Danny Chang, his sister and other students. After more than 17 years of apprenticeship under his father and several years of world tours, Danny Chang became president of the Golden Dragon Acrobats when his father accepted the position of head coach at the National Taiwan College of Performing Arts. Today, Danny and his choreographer-wife, Angela, present a show combining award-winning acrobatics, traditional dance, spectacular costumes, ancient and contemporary music and theatrical techniques.

But wait, there’s more!

In November 2005, the Golden Dragon Acrobats made their Broadway debut to a sold-out audience at the New Victory Theater, New York’s ultimate theater for kids and families. Their Broadway run over the next six weeks led to adoration and standing ovations from audiences of all ages and critical acclaim from the New York press. The troupe received two New York Drama Desk nominations: Danny Chang for Unique Theatrical Experience, and Angela Chang for Best Choreography. The Golden Dragon Acrobats have traveled around the world to all 50 states and to over 65 countries on five continents. This tour will mark the 39th year of continuous touring in the U.S. for the troupe.
